Firefly Wellness Counseling – Decatur, GA

Starting therapy can be intimidating. Finding the right therapist is important for your success. Learn more about what to expect.

Is therapy for me?2017-09-13T14:32:48+00:00

A lot of people feel like their problems aren’t big enough or important enough for therapy. If your problems are bothering you, then they are important. You matter and you deserve to live a fulfilling life.

What’s your style?2018-02-13T15:40:18+00:00

I believe that healing happens in the therapeutic relationship. I can teach you a million skills but if I haven’t created a safe place for you to share your hopes, dreams, fears, and deepest shame, then we aren’t going to get anywhere.  I truly love my work and the connections I have with my clients and want you to feel safe, cared for, and like you have a space to be who you really are. Along with my more Humanistic approach, I use a lot of Mindfulness techniques and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (I love to give homework!). I also love using books, humor, movies, and music as ways to explore yourself.

Who do you help?2018-04-09T12:44:02+00:00

I have experience working with a wide range of populations and have been trained in family therapy. However, I specialize in working with teens and adults who are struggling with anxiety and/or depression. Anxiety and depression can look like a lot of different things. Sometimes it’s feeling like you can’t connect with the people in your life because you feel uneasy and unable to just be present. Sometimes it’s when it’s day one of your vacation and you already feel stressed about the vacation being over. Sometimes it’s feeling overwhelmed or empty and you just don’t know why.

How long and how much are sessions?2017-10-22T22:22:43+00:00

I offer 50 minute individual therapy sessions for $120 or 90 minute sessions for $180.

Do you take insurance?2018-01-11T19:25:53+00:00

I don’t, however, I will give you a superbill (fancy word for a receipt) if you think you are eligible for out of network benefits. This app- Better can help you navigate insurance claims.

Do you take credit cards?2017-09-12T17:56:02+00:00

Yes! I accept all major credit credits, FSA, and HSA cards. I also accept cash or checks.

Do I have to be in therapy forever?2017-09-12T17:56:12+00:00

My job is to put myself out of a job. I believe we all have things to learn about ourselves and I believe there is value in therapy throughout different stages in your life. However, the goal is to get you feeling like you can handle things on your own. For some people this takes a few months, for others, years. This is a collaborative process and we will work together to evaluate what success looks like for you.

How often do I have to see you?2017-09-12T17:56:19+00:00

It depends. I usually encourage every week for anyone starting out. As you progress, after discussion, we may decide to go down to every other week or even once a month.

Do you offer online counseling?2018-01-17T17:47:05+00:00

Yes, I offer online therapy using the HIPPA compliant doxy.me platform. There is an app for your phone or you can also use your computer. Click here to access my online “waiting room.”

How do I access the client portal and schedule?2018-01-17T17:10:18+00:00

I have made scheduling as easy as possible. You can go to the client portal here and click either New Client or Existing Client. From there, you will be able to see my availability and schedule. If the times don’t work for you, please do not hesitate to call or email and we can try to find something that will.

If you are a current client, you can go here to log into the client portal to sign and view documents, and send secure messages.
